Thedhekey Thedhekey completes music video trilogy
Maldivian singer Aishath Naseera makes a comeback today, with the music video Thedhekey Thedhekey, which premiered on TVM's Heyyambo. Written by Ahmed Naseer with original music composition and performance by Ahmed Nashid of Zero Degree Atoll, the music video was gifted by Naseera to Manfaa, an NGO working for the interests of the aged.
Thedhekey Thedhekey is also the unintended conclusion of a trilogy of public service announcement music videos produced by Club Hulhevi. Heyva Heyva, the first of the trilogy, sung by Zoona, was a maternal mortality awareness spot that became a phenomenal musical hit in 2002. Three years later, Vehey Iru Fen Nagashe, sung by Unoosha, brought to young audiences the 'libaas-levvun' ritual, or the robing of girls upon attaining puberty. And now, three years later, Club Hulhevi has completed the trilogy with Thedhekey Thedhekey.
All three songs were shot on location in remote island communities and starred a host of non-actors. While the first two focussed on old customs, Thedhekey Thedhekey follows a group of elderly people living out their active lives in the beautiful island of Fiori, in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll.
All three songs can be viewed on YouTube by typing their titles in the video search.
